MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- A local middle school celebrated 50 years on Madison's east side Friday.
Sennett Middle School threw a birthday party for the longtime teachers and alumni. Current students and families also got the chance to leaf through yearbooks from the 1980's to the 2000's.
Many people walked the halls and took a step back in history.
"Here's to another 50 years. We're looking forward to that but we're here just to celebrate everyone coming back. It's been fun seeing the old veteran teachers that had been here or students who had been here and are now adults. Sennett has not only been my school as a student, a teacher, but it's family for me," Mike Oriedo, a seventh grade math teacher at Sennett said.
The school is already looking ahead to the next 50 years. They are hoping to raise funds to build a playground and purchase new sports equipment.
