MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- NBC15's Share Your Holidays is gearing up for its 23rd year.
Since "Share Your Holidays" began, more than 40 million meals have been raised to help those struggling with hunger.
Share You Holidays officially kicks-off on Thursday Nov. 1. The slogan for its 2018 campaign is "One Meal More." Mike McKinney, NBC15's late anchor and co-founder of "Share Your Holidays," would respond the same way when asked how many meals he wanted to raise, "Just one more meal."
In 2017, the campaign raised more meals than ever before, 4.18 million meals.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Southern Wisconsin CEO and President Dan Stein said he sees the importance of what one more meal can do for people.
"It can mean academic improvements, health issue improvements, and also family dynamics," said Stein.
On Nov. 3 and 4, Metcalfe's Market is hosting an open house. Hot dogs will be sold at the event. Proceeds will go to the NBC15 Share Your Holidays campaign.
On Nov. 8, 105.5 Triple M will hold a "Request-a-thon" from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. When you call and make a donation, they'll play any song that you request. Call 1-844-8HUNGER (1-844-848-6437).
On Nov. 15, be prepared to post pictures on Facebook. It's the Share Your Holidays Social Media Blitz. Take a photo of yourself participating in Share Your Holidays, post it to Second Harvest of Southern Wisconsin's Facebook page, and use the hashtag, #SYH23. Naviant Inc. will donate 15 meals per photo up to 1,000 photos.
