Several injured in multiple-vehicle vs. semi crash Saturday morning

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Six people were injured after a multiple-vehicle versus semi crash Saturday morning. One person does have life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened just after 4:30 a.m. The Madison Fire Department says crews arrived to find three cars and a semi tractor-trailer involved in a collision.

Fire officials say one person was pinned in a car that sustained heavy damage. Crews extricated the occupant and that person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Drivers from two other cars and passengers from two vehicles were also transported to hospitals with unknown injuries, according to authorities.

Dane County Dispatch says Med Flight was dispatched to the scene, but called off before arrival.

All southbound lanes of I-39/I-90 at Mile Marker 143 near the Beltline were closed for nearly four hours.

MFD says the accident is still under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
