MCFARLAND, Wis. (WMTV) - The Spartan Peace Project is a campaign McFarland students have been promoting to call others to take action against hate.
On Thursday, Sept. 27, students will get a chance to hear from Masood Akhtar from United Against Hate, who will be talking to the students about seeking equal protection and uniting against hate, bigotry and racism.
Akhtar also spoke to students in Mount Horeb in August as part of a school district campaign to provide students with skills and opportunities to discuss equity, hate and marginalization. The project wants to open up the discussion on how as a school and community, individuals can create change.
Other speakers at the assembly include a former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, a member of the hip hop street team and members of the organization Serve2Unite.
