State Patrol responds to nearly 100 traffic incidents

Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the following between 11 a.m. on 1/22 and 7 a.m. on 1/23:

  • 96 motorist assists

  • 50 vehicle runoffs

  • 35 property damage crashes

  • 3 personal injury crashes

  • 13 unknown injury crashes

  • 3 Hit and run

In Dane County, WisDOT reports they responded to 60 crashes.

WisDOT reminds motorists that it is illegal to follow a snowplow closer than 200 feet if the plow is engaged in snow and ice removal on highways with a posted speed limit of more than 35 mph. Most crashes involving snowplows and vehicles happen when a snowplow is rear ended or hit while being passed.
