Sun Prairie teacher named "LifeChanger of the Year"

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) Sun Prairie teacher, Sandra Kowalczyk was honored on Wednesday as she was named "LifeChanger of the Year."

Sandra Kowalczyk, a reading specialist at Sun Prairie Schools, was named one of this year's "LifeChanger of the Year Award."

"I'm a reading specialist and if I can get a reluctant reader excited about books, then its not short term, it's really something that's lasting," said Kowalczyk.

"LifeChanger of the Year" is an annual program recognizing K-12 educators and school employees across the country. According to the organization's website, the goal of the program is to celebrate "those who are making a significant difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership."

Kowalczyk was one of more than 800 nominees and one of 16 award-winners. The awards are given by National Life Group.

Both Kowalczyk and the school will receive a financial price.
