Person dead after Dodge County crash that closes interstate for 5 hours

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 41 near the Town of Lomira. Another man was flown out of the scene by Med Flight.

A dispatcher with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the crash happened around 12 a.m. Friday morning. He also confirmed the crash involved a Silver Ford pickup truck and a semi.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the investigation shows the pickup truck was going the wrong way on Interstate 41 when it crashed into the semi.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dispatcher says the semi truck driver was air lifted from the scene. His injuries are not expected to be life threatening.

This crash closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 41 for about 5 hours and 20 minutes. The northbound lane was closed for 1 hour and 10 minutes while Flight for Life was on the ground.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters were also on the scene of the crash responding to flames, but could not confirm if either vehicle was on fire.
