The holiday rush has hit the Postal Service. According to USPS, this week is expected to be the busiest for the holiday mail and shipping season.

The organization expects to deliver almost three billion pieces of First-Class Mail this week alone. That's not including the nearly 200 million packages each week from December 11 through Christmas Eve. On Tuesday, the Postal Service on Struck Street had a line of people hoping to make the holiday shipping deadline for First-Class Mail to get delivered by Christmas.

"Oh I don't care what I spend today, just as long as they get it there by Saturday," said Becky Oaks. "Has to be there for Christmas and I came to this post office because I was hoping the line wouldn't be so long but, of course, that's a laugh, the lines are long anywhere, but that's okay!"

The Priority Mail deadline is December 20 for an expected delivery by December 25. December 22 is the Priority Mail Express deadline for an expected delivery by December 25. According to USPS, mail numbers are up more than 10 percent compared to this time last year.
