UW-Madison reopens after cold spell cancels classes for a day

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - UW-Madison reopened Thursday after being closed Wednesday because of the extreme cold.

Students attended classes scheduled after 1 p.m. today. Classes before that time were still canceled. Events around campus will also resume.

UW-Madison student Daniel Eli Cevliia said he was not looking forward to classes on such a chilly day.

"Some of my classes had been canceled up until noon today so some of the classes I wasn't going to go to I'm going to right now,” Cevliia said. “It's still really cold and I’m not really looking forward to walking over there."

The university says that students and UW-Madison employees that cannot make it to work due to the cold can stay home and make up hours on other days.
