MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - On National 211 Day, United Way is spreading the word of its multifaceted help line.

United Way 211 is a 24-hour, 365-days-per-year information service.

The organization takes calls from those who are looking for anything from rent assistance to food assistance.

United Way has even started an addition-specific hotline to help those with substance abuse.

The director of United Way 211 says that National 211 Day is to remind people that United Way is there to help any time, not just times of disaster.

"A lot of times people see us in the news around disasters and things like that, but we want people to know really they can call 211 for anything,” said Rachel Gundacker, director of United Way 211.

According to Gundacker, the organization received about 200,000 calls across the state last year.
