Unseasonably cool air moves into Wisconsin
It may be hard to believe, but Summer officially starts in about a week and a half. Friday, June 21st at 10:54 a.m. we will welcome the Summer Solstice. While it would be silly to put the rain gear away in this wet pattern, you might have put away the jackets for the Summer. If you have, you will be pulling them back out of the closet over the next couple of days as unseasonably cool conditions move into Wisconsin.
Despite sunshine, highs on Thursday are only expected to be into the 60s. Lows the next couple of nights will be into the 40s! If you think that is chilly, our friends across the northern half of Wisconsin and Minnesota are expecting overnight lows into the 30s along with frost potential. While we will be close, no records are in jeopardy at this point.
Temperatures will rebound back tot he 70s as we move into the weekend. However, highs are still expected to be below normal as average highs for this time of year approach 80 degrees.
The long trend forecast through the end of the month doesn't offer much change. The Climate Prediction Center has our area in a good chance of below normal temperatures in both the 6-10 and 8-14 day temperature outlook. This would take us into the final week of June.
While I can't rule out a few days into the 80s, I wouldn't hold your breath for any significant warm-ups or 90 degree days. While this may be bad news for those wanting to the water park or lakes, our air conditioners will be getting a break. Most days will feature very pleasant conditions into the 70s along with low humidity.
