DANE COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) -- A missing Dane County man was found dead Saturday morning after a Silver Alert was issued for an elderly couple on Thanksgiving. Late Saturday night, his wife died as well.

Donald Soper, 87, was found dead and Colleen Soper, 87, found in critical condition, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Colleen Soper was then taken to Meriter Hospital. According to her daughter’s Facebook page, she later died.

The vehicle a missing Dane County couple was last seen traveling in was found Saturday morning.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., the Sopers' vehicle was located on a remote trail in the Town of Vermont. The vehicle appeared to be stuck and both Donald and Colleen were with the vehicle.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, however the circumstances do not appear to be suspicious.

The Sopers' long-time neighbors in Westport said Donald was his wife's caregiver. Colleen suffers from memory loss.

The Dodge Caliber was found on the 5500 block of County Highway J and emergency crews were sent to the scene, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

Neighbors said Donald was kind and funny. They also said he built several of the homes in his neighborhood.
