Authorities responded to a vehicle fire on the eastbound Beltline exit ramp to north and southbound USH 51 in Bloomington Grove on Thursday around 10:14 a.m.

According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Department, the car was stopped on the off-ramp at the lights to USH 51/Stoughton Road when it started on fire. All four occupants of the car were able to exit safely and deputies provided warmth to a small child in their squad car.

Police say the car had recent mechanical issues that might have caused the fire. The vehicle was considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The eastbound traffic to the exit ramp to USH 51/Stoughton Road was redirected for about 1 hour.
