Lanes back open after passenger bus fire shut down part of Beltline

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- All eastbound lanes of the Beltline near Park Street have now re-opened after crews worked to put out a passenger bus fire.

A spokesperson with the Madison Fire Department wants to remind drivers to drive with caution as icy conditions may remain a factor in that area.

All eastbound lanes of Beltline are closed near Park Street due to a passenger bus fire on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson with the Madison Fire Department said fire crews responded to multiple reports of a passenger bus on fire in the right hand lane of the eastbound Beltline near Park Street just before 3:00 p.m. The driver was able to get all the passengers off of the bus. No injuries have been reported.

Fire officials said the water used to put out the fire is quickly turning to ice. The highway is not safe for driving yet. The City of Madison Street Division is responding to spread salt on the roads.
