Walker says he's waiting on timeline for replacing Rhoades
WATERTOWN, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker says he wants to wait until after the funeral for Department of Health Services Secretary Kitty Rhoades to talk about a timeline for naming a successor.
Walker said Tuesday he didn't want to talk about it until after Rhoades' funeral on Thursday. She died on Saturday after a brief bout with pneumonia. She was 65.
Walker has tapped the department's deputy secretary, Tom Engels, to serve as interim secretary until a replacement is found.
Rhoades' visitation is set for Wednesday, with a funeral to follow on Thursday in Hudson.
