Wisconsin puppies found in the trash ready for adoption

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WMTV) - Nine puppies that were abandoned in a garbage can are offiically up for adoption.

The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter is accepting applications for adoptions online until midnight on Friday. You can find the application here.

The pups are all named after cheese: Blue, Brie, Cheddar, Colby, Feta, Fontina, Gouda, Muenster, and Swiss.

Back in February, officers in Marshfield were called to a home after a person said they could hear kittens coming from inside a garbage can. Instead, they found the nine puppies tied up in a trash bag.

Since then, the pups have been getting stronger at the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.

56-year-old Robert Wild was arrested on misdemeanor charges of mistreatment of animals and abandonment of animals.
