FORT ATKINSON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Thrill and something new. That's what Ella Wakerhauser wanted to do for her 94th birthday.
Wakerhauser went to Wisconsin Skydiving Center to jump from 10,000 feet in the air for the celebration.
"I thought well, if I am going to die, I am going to die doing and I thought, well, that's okay. I am 93 years old," says Wakerhauser.
Her son, Dan Kurtz says his mom has worked really hard in her life. Wakerhauser grew up in the Depression. She had a full-time job at the Badger Ammunition Plant as she raised four children. Unfortunately, after 50 years of marriage her husband died from cancer.
"Full of life more now than she has been in a lot of years, " Kurtz said.
Kurtz and his family lost his sister to cancer around 20 years ago. He says his mom is strong and persistent. He wasn't surprised to hear she wanted to go sky diving because she has talked about it before.
"I wasn't a bit scared... maybe it's because I am old... laughs," Wakerhauser said.
Her great grandson accompanied her on Thursday and her granddaughter and son will be jumping Friday.
