Designers are taking the first steps in the planning process for the makeover that will happen at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center this fall. It's all a part of Design for a Difference.

In April, Wil-Mar was announced as the next location of the 5th free makeover project. Designers on Thursday met with the volunteers, employees, and kids about what they would like to see improved, while still preserving its history in the community.

"They should be excited that we want to preserve this space," said Angela Skalitzky, the director of Design for the Difference. "This isn't something that we want to come in and commercialize. It's something we really want to preserve and make it home for the community."

Construction won't begin for a few months, but Design for a Difference will collect donations, volunteer help, and hold a rummage sale on June 8th to raise funds for the project.

Design for a Difference is a national program that partners with local designers and organizations that donate their time, talents, and good to transform local non-profits so the organization can better serve communities. FLOOR360 spearheaded the project in the Madison-area for the last five years.
