MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- On Friday, Dane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a crash versus a horse on CTH PB near Wesner Rd in the Town of Verona around 9:45 p.m.

Lt. Trevor Greiber with the Dane Co. Sheriff’s Office said a Chevrolet Solverado was traveling southbound on CTH PB near Wesner Rd when it struck a horse in the middle of the highway. Another car traveling the opposite direction then struck the same horse.

The horse died as a result of the crash, and two other animals got loose, but were quickly corralled by passerby and law enforcement and safely returned to their barn at a nearby property. It's unknown how the animals got loose at this time.

The four occupants of the Chevrolet Silverado were wearing their seatbelts and did not report any injuries. The two occupants of the Toyota Prius were also wearing their seatbelts but were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
