MADiSON, Wis. (WMTV) -- The Sun Prairie boys' basketball team pulled off the upset during the WIAA Division 1 state semifinal contest against West Allis Central in regulation at the Kohl Center Friday night.
Sun Prairie (21-6) held off the Bulldogs from the free-throw line, going 5-6 in clutch time to secure the first state title appearance in program history.
Cooper Nelson’s go-ahead bucket with 1:31 remaining in overtime helped the Cardinals outlast seventh-ranked West Allis Central (22-4) 62-60.
The Bulldogs forced overtime when Glenn Martin drilled a contested three-pointer from the left wing with mere seconds remaining to tie the game 51-51.
The Cardinals didn't miss their former star Jalen Johnson as Delaware Hale and Brock Voigt finished with 14 points apiece to lead the Cardinals, while Nelson added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Martin paced the Bulldogs with 18 points. Shilo Bowles impressed with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds.
