CHICAGO (WMTV) - The Chicago Cubs officially announced former catcher David Ross as their new manager, NBC Chicago reports.

He will be filling the shoes of Joe Maddon, who left the team earlier this year.

The Cubs tweeted Thursday that Ross had agreed to a three-year contract through the 2022 season - with a club option for 2023, according to NBC Chicago.

Ross was previously an analyst for ESPN and a special adviser with the Cubs.
