GREEN BAY, Wis. (WMTV)— NFL free agency officially begins on Wednesday and the Green Bay Packers are lining up a trio of key defensive signings.
General Manager Brian Gutekunst is making big moves for former Ravens linebacker Za’Darius Smith and former Bears safety Adrian Amos. The signings are according to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network.
Another player on his way to Green Bay is former Redskins linebacker Preston Smith
Za'Darius Smith spent four seasons with the Ravens. He totaled 119 tackles and 18.5 sacks. He spent two years at the University of Kentucky before being drafted 122nd overall in the fourth round in 2015.
Amos spent four seasons with the Bears. He has 274 total tackles, two sacks, and three interceptions in his career. The Baltimore, Maryland native played college football at Penn State University before being drafted as the 142nd pick in the 5th round of the 2015 draft.
Preston Smith is heading into his 5th NFL season after spending the first four of his career with the Washington Redskins. The 26-year-old has 168 tackles, 24.5 sacks, and 4 interceptions in his career. He drafted out of Ole Miss with the 38th overall pick in the second round in 2015 .
Two of the biggest signings this off season is expected to be Nick Foles to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders.
UPDATE: Packers are also signing offensive lineman Billy Turner from the Denver Broncos.
