PHOENIX (AP) -- Christian Yelich is staying quiet when it comes to his contract situation with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 28-year-old Yelich is reportedly on the brink of a multiyear contract that could keep him in Milwaukee for the rest of his career.

A Brewers spokesman said the 2018 NL MVP wouldn't answer any questions about the negotiations, and the organization also declined comment.

But Yelich's teammates are praising the slugger while the sides hammer out the final details.

Outfielder Lorenzo Cain says Yelich deserves the new deal.
