Search for missing child on Wisconsin River continues

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Recovery efforts continue on Thursday for a missing child in the Wisconsin River in Wisconsin Dells.

Sheriff Brent York with the Adams County Sheriff's Department said they received a report from the Wisconsin Dells Police Department that a child had disappeared in the river near the 4100 block of River Road around 5:59 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses confirmed to officials they saw the child go under the water Tuesday evening just before 6 p.m.

For two days in a row, searches have been postponed around 10 p.m.

Crews are using three search boats on the river. The Sauk and Columbia County dive teams are assisting in the search. Eleven divers in total are looking for the child.

Authorities say they are not releasing the age or identify of the missing child, but have confirmed they are from Wisconsin Dells.

Crews have finished their search for Thursday night, there is no other information at this time.
