Authorities ID man killed in Beloit confrontation

BELOIT, Wis. (WMTV)---- Police have identified a man killed in a shooting in Beloit on March 11.

The City of Beloit Police Department said 21-year-old Treron L. White of Beloit was found deceased at the scene. Two other individuals, a 25-year-old Beloit man and a 15-year-old Beloit boy, were transported to the hospital for gunshot wounds.

Police said 30-year-old Gregory A. Carter of Beloit was arrested in Janesville on Wednesday night for his involvement in the incident. Due to a potential conflict of interest in the Rock County District Attorney’s Office, the Wisconsin Attorney General’s Office will review potential prosecution against Carter.

Police were called to the 700 block of Elm Street for a disturbance around 9:30 p.m. A large confrontation involving many people led to the shooting.

Police believe everyone involved knew each other, and it was part of an ongoing dispute.

Police confirmed none of the victims were residents of the 700 block of Elm Street.
