EDGERTON, Wis. (WMTV) - Authorities say a 13-year-old boy has been found after going missing in Edgerton in Rock County Friday.
NBC15 reported earlier Friday that multiple departments were dispatched to find the boy, who went missing from Edgerton Middleton School just before 3 p.m.
Edgerton police chief Robert Kowalski tells NBC15 that the teen ran into nearby woods without any cold-weather clothing.
First responders found the boy just before 5 p.m. in a marshy area. He was cold and wet, but otherwise healthy, authorities say.
Chief Kowalski says there was a "great effort" from the community, as a number of residents helped out to assist the search.
“It’s truly a blessing to be here, to see the community come together during this event," Kowalski tells NBC15.
Edgerton police, fire, EMS and the Sheriff’s Office were involved in the search. Authorities used K-9s, police drones and boats to find the missing boy.
