MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A Beaver Dam man was found guilty of violently shaking a baby by a Dodge County jury on Monday.

Raymond D. Keyser, 24, was found guilty of physical abuse of a child - recklessly cause great bodily harm, and faces up to 15 years in prison.

The Dodge County District Attorney’s Office said that while in Keyser’s care, the 8-month-old girl suffered serious injuries to her brain, eyes and neck – injuries consistent with being shaken.

Keyser told authorities he did not shake the child but instead claimed the baby had fallen from a 2-foot-high bed onto a carpeted floor.

Medical experts also determined during the three-day-trial that the child had been shaken.

Keyser faces a $50,000 fine in addition to up to 15 years in prison.

The sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 14. 2019.
