Domestic incident leads to interstate crash near Janesville

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV)-- A man was taken into custody Friday night following a domestic incident that lead to a crash on I-90 near Janesville.

According to the Janesville Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Janesville Police and Fire Departments were dispatched for a single vehicle crash on I-90 near the 172 mile marker at 4:51 p.m.

As emergency crews were arriving to the scene, they learned a man was threatening people with a knife and ran away. Authorities say he was later found in the 2900 block of Deerfield Drive trying to get into vehicles.

According to police, officers deployed their stun guns while trying to arrest the man. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for his injuries.

During the investigation, officers learned the crash occurred while a woman was trying to get out of the man's car following an argument. Police say she was injured in the fight. She was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is currently investigating the traffic accident and the Janesville Police Department is currently investigating the possible domestic disturbance incident involving the knife. Both investigations are currently ongoing.
