Authorities say Kathryn M. Dejak, 73, and Kaila M. Dorau, 27, both of Spring Green, were driving in a sedan on County Road C at Spring Hill Road around 7: 30 a.m.

Dejak, who was driving, suddenly lost control of the car and struck a snowplow truck driving in the opposite direction.

The impact of the crash rolled the sedan onto its side and into a ditch.

Dejak was airlifted by UW MedFlight to the UW Hospital in Madison with critical injuries. Dorau, the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The Iowa County plow truck operator was identified as Randall J. Starr, 48 of Lone Rock. Authorities say he was driving a 2017 Western Star snowplow truck.

Dejak, Dorau and Starr were all wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office says slick roads may have caused the car to slide and crash.
