JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV)--- Tonight a man is recovering after the Janesville Police Department states he intentionally jumped into the Rock River Monday afternoon.

The incident started around 3:00pm when Rock County Dispatch received a 911 call from a man who said he was going to jump off the Center Avenue Bridge in Janesville. The phone line then disconnected.

Officers arrived and found the man on the West side of the bridge. As they approached, he climbed over the railing. Officers tried to negotiate with him, but police say the man stopped talking and jumped into the river.

He was pulled from the river by the Janesville Fire Department's water rescue team and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
