Lake Mills PD to name first K9 after firefighter killed

LAKE MILLS. Wis. (WMTV)--- The Lake Mills Police Department will be starting a K-9 program, and they will be naming the K-9 “Truman” after Lake Mills Fire Captain Chris Truman.

Volunteer firefighter Christopher P. Truman died after he stopped to help a driver on the Beltline on New Year’s Eve.

The City of Lake Mills Police Department made the announcement on their Facebook page on Monday.

The police department said they are in the early stages of their fundraising campaign to raise money for a drug dog/search dog to help support their mission of keeping the community and officers safe.

Anyone who would like to donate to the cause can contact Chief Selck at (920) 648-2354. Money is currently being raised at the Lake Mills Market. Other fundraisers are to follow.
