BELOIT, Wis. (WMTV)-- Lane closures begin Monday while crews install a new pedestrian bridge over Pleasant Street in Beloit.

Beloit College is renovating the Powerhouse into a student center. The pedestrian bridge is part of the project.

Pleasant Street will have various lane closures over the next two months. The lane closures may be expanded at times when large sections of bridge are being placed by a crane.

A spokeswoman for the City of Beloit said Pleasant Street will remain open during construction. All vehicle traffic southbound on Pleasant Street will need to merge into the northbound left lane. All vehicle traffic northbound will need to merge into the rightmost lane. These lane shifts will only be in the area of the Powerhouse, which is located on the 800 block of Pleasant Street.

The sidewalk by the Powerhouse will also be closed. Pedestrians should cross the river and use Fourth Street, West Grand Avenue, and the Wood Family Fishing Bridge.
