MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- A man accused of brutally attacking a UW-Madison student has been bound over for trial.
22-year-old Jerome Winslow was in court on Tuesday afternoon. Winslow waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Winslow has been charged with five felonies in connection to the attack on Feb. 3.
Prosecutors said Winslow beat the victim, and then he dragged her toward Lake Mendota. Witnesses found her down by the lake.
Chief Koval of the Madison Police Department said the 19-year-old woman’s injuries were significant. She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries to her face.
According to court documents, the victim suffered a broken jaw. She said doctors told her she needed titanium plates to reconstruct her jaw. The victim said she will have braces and be restricted to a liquid diet for approximately six weeks.
No date has been set yet for his trial.
