MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)-- A lawsuit has been settled in the death of a UW-Madison student who was found dead while studying abroad in Italy.

The parents of Beau Solomon filed the lawsuit against John Cabot University (JCU) and Ace American Insurance Company in August 2017.

Authorities say Solomon was robbed, attacked, and found dead in the Tiber River in 2016.

According to federal court documents, Solomon's parents claim that JCU failed to provide adequate safety warnings which they believe were a substantial factor in their son’s death.

Allegations in the lawsuit include that in the past 10 years, there have been at least five deaths of people in their late teens to mid-twenties who have died under suspicious circumstances near or around the John Cabot University campus.

According to online court documents, attorneys representing both parties reached a settlement on Feb. 12, 2019.
