MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- The Madison Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire on Friday night that left five people displaced.
According to Madison Fire Department Officials, the call came in at 3:50 p.m. after a neighbor reported seeing flames in the bedroom area of the home on the 5900 block of Meadowood Drive.
The Madison Fire Department arrived in minutes and found flames coming out of the window, and smoke coming out of the attic area on both ends of the house.
Everyone was able to get out safely, and the fire was put out by around 4:10 p.m. The five people are being assisted by the Red Cross.
A portion of the roof was opened up to ventilate the house from heavy smoke.
Investigators are working to determine how the fire started and there is no estimate to the cost of the damage to the home at this time.
