Madison schools add 2 school days, extra minutes

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- Madison Metropolitan School District released its plan after having several days off of school due to the weather.

They have added two more school days for students. Those days are on March 18th and June 12th. They added extra minutes to the end of the school day starting on Feb. 25th.

Elementary Schools
Students (except 4K) will attend school on March 18. This will be an early release day for elementary school students. This was previously scheduled as a staff-only day.

Students (including 4K) will attend school on June 12. This will be a full day of school and the last day of school for students. This was previously scheduled as a staff-only day.

Beginning on Feb. 25, elementary schools will have 11 minutes added to the end of the day. CLICK HERE for updated dismissal times.

Badger Bus: Reflecting the new dismissal time, bus schedules at the end of the day will run 11 minutes later. Specialized and alternative transportation providers will also adjust their schedules.

Middle and High Schools
Students will attend a full day of school on March 18. This will NOT be an early release day for middle and high school students. This was previously scheduled as a staff-only day.

Students will attend school on June 12. This will be a full day of school and the last day of school for students. This was previously scheduled as a staff-only day.

Beginning on Feb. 25, middle and high schools will start two minutes earlier and dismiss five minutes later than originally scheduled.

School officials said there is no change to the time that students catch
Madison Metro buses in the morning on Feb. 25th. The bus schedule will shift five minutes at the end of the school day. There are differences between elementary and high school.

Spring Harbor Middle School: Reflecting the new dismissal time,

Badger Bus schedules at the end of the day will run seven minutes later for Spring Harbor students.

Middle School MSCR Afterschool programs: Some middle school MSCR Afterschool programs will be impacted, transportation times will be adjusted, as needed. If your middle school child takes part in an MSCR Afterschool program, you can expect MSCR to reach out with more information soon.

Four-year-old kindergarten (4K)
4K students will not attend school March 18. This was previously scheduled as an off day for 4K.

4K students will attend school Wednesday, June 12. This was previously scheduled as a staff-only day.

Beginning the week of Feb. 25, the following changes will take effect for A.M. and P.M. 4K sessions:

A.M. 4K: School will dismiss six minutes later than the current dismissal time.

P.M. 4K: School will start six minutes later than the current start time, and school will dismiss five minutes later than the current dismissal time.

Specialized and alternative transportation providers will also adjust their schedules to reflect adjusted start or dismissal times.
