Judge sentences man accused in fiery crash to 15 years

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- A judge has sentenced a man charged in a fiery crash that killed another man to 10 years in prison and five years of extended supervision.

22-year-old Gavin Veium appeared in a Dane County courtroom on Monday afternoon for his sentencing hearing. Judge William Hanrahan gave Veuim the maximum sentence.
Madison Police said Veium was speeding when he rear ended a vehicle being driven by Diano McCullough in June of 2018 on John Nolen Drive.

Both of the vehicles caught fire. McCullough died at the scene.
In January, Veium pleaded no contest to homicide by vehicle use - control substance in a plea deal. The other two charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.

According to a criminal complaint, an officer overheard Veium admit that he was taking LSD.
