SAUK COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) -- The Sauk County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a missing child. Mason Byrdic is missing after his guardians agreed to a short visit with his biological mother.

Julia Byrdic was supposed to return her son to his grandparents who live in Merrimac after a visit around the holidays. The 9-year-old boy legally lives with his grandparents in Wisconsin, as his mother lives in Pompano Beach, Florida.

She picked him up for a visit at 11 a.m. on December 23. He was supposed to be returned that evening.

According to a press release from the Sauk County Sheriff's Office, Byrdic took her son to a different state and is driving a blue sedan. They have placed a warrant for her arrests citing that Interference with Custody-Beyond Visitation is a felony.

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting with this investigation.
