Monroe St. reopens, reconstruction complete

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- After more than eight months of construction and traffic tie-ups, Monroe Street in downtown Madison reopened on Wednesday afternoon.

The $21 million dollar sewer reconstruction has caused some traffic headaches since it started back in March.

Two-way traffic, new pavement, sidewalks, lighting and streetscaping are all back open.

Metro Transit Buses will return to Monroe Street on Thursday and will run on a holiday schedule.
