ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) -- The Rock County Medical Examiner has released the name of the man that was the victim of an apparent hit-and-run crash in Union Township.

According to the Rock County Medical Examiner, 21-year-old William Church of Evansville was hit in the late evening hours of Friday into the early morning hours of Saturday.

Church was found by a passerby in the 7800 block of CTH M. A forensic autopsy confirmed that the death was the result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene and has not been found.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office said this is the first death their office has seen, but there have been at least two other pedestrian deaths in Rock County in November, handled by other law enforcement agencies.

The death remains under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff's Office and the Rock County Medical Examiner.
