Beloit shooting victim identified, police seek 'known suspect'

BELOIT, Wis. (WMTV) - Police are searching for one known suspect after a man was shot in the City of Beloit Wednesday night.

Beloit police identified the victim on Thursday as 19-year-old Enrique Ramirez of Beloit. Ramirez was shot multiple times while he was in a car, according to police.

Ramirez was transported to a local hospital and in "critical-stable condition."

The shooting happened in the 1200 block of Vine Street around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials are seeking one known suspect. They believe the suspect and Ramirez knew each other, so police said they do not believe the community at large is at risk.

Authorities were investigating the 1200 block of Vine Street and the 700 block of 10th Street on Wednesday night.

Beloit fire and police responded to the shooting.
