ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV)--- A retired Rock County Sheriff K9 passed away last Sunday.

Sergeant Wayne Hansen of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office said Dex was formerly assigned to Deputy Shawn Nolan.

Hansen said Dex started active duty in April 2010, and he served until his retirement in October 2016. Dex worked in the Patrol Bureau, SWAT, and the Special Investigation Unit.

Hansen said Dex assisted his partner, Deputy Nolan, by performing sniffs for narcotics at schools and traffic stops. He assisted and apprehended suspects in burglaries and worked in locating missing persons.

Hansen said that Dex was one of the best partners that Deputy Nolan ever had the pleasure of working with.
