SLOW DOWN: Sheriff’s Office shares close call

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) - The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office shared dashcam video from a recent snow storm on its Facebook page on Jan. 22 with a reminder to all drivers to slow down.

Deputy Jason Fabry was assisting a motorist who slid into the ditch just off camera to the right and was walking back onto the highway when an oncoming motorist slides out of control and nearly strikes him, according to the post.

The Sheriff’s Office wrote “This spin out could have been deadly for Deputy Fabry, or for an oncoming vehicle.”

No one was injured.

The Sheriff’s Office posted the video as an example of people driving too fast for conditions and putting the life of a deputy at great risk.

The incident is all too common that just happened to be captured by a squad camera, according to the post.

“Please SLOW DOWN, give yourself EXTRA TIME to make it to your destination, and DRIVE SAFE, especially around emergency vehicles. Our lives depend on it!”
