SAUK COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV)--- A Sauk County board member has been charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.

A criminal complaint identified the man as 72-year-old William F. Wenzel of Prairie du Sac.

The complaint stated that on Jan. 28, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) conducted an online investigation on peer-to-peer file sharing networks. Through the investigation they were able to download a video file that was described as child pornography. It was revealed the IP address was assigned to Wenzel.

The complaint said law enforcement officers and agents from Sauk Prairie Police Department and DCI executed a search warrant on Feb. 22 to analyze digital devices from Wenzel’s home on 5th Street for evidence of child pornography. Files found on the hard drive of a laptop inside the home were consistent with child pornography.

According to online court records, an arrest warrant was issued for Wenzel on Thursday.

We reached out to the Sauk County jail on Friday morning. Wenzel hasn't been booked into the jail yet.
