Student arrested after UWPD officer assaulted

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) A UW student is behind bars after UW Police say he assaulted an officer early Sunday morning.

According to UWPD, an officer was dispatched to Witte Hall for a report of an individual who was urinating in a hallway at 1:15am. Police say the student, identified as Logan Mitchell, 18, became combative with the officer and struck him in the face. Mitchell was taken to the ground when two additional officers arrived on the scene.

Throughout the arrest, police say Mitchell was combative with officers until he was taken to the Dane County jail.

The officers injuries are minor. Mitchell’s BAC measured .20. He was cited for underage drinking, possession of a fake ID, and depositing human waste. He was booked into jail for battery to a police officer, resisting, and resisting causing injury.
