WAUWATOSA, Wis. (AP) -- The family of a teenage boy who was fatally shot by police in the parking lot of a suburban Milwaukee mall has called for a transparent investigation into the killing.
Alvin Cole was shot dead by police following an altercation inside Mayfair Mall on Sunday evening.
Tracy Cole told people attending a vigil outside the mall Monday night that she hasn't been able to function since her 17-year-old son was killed.
A family spokesman says an investigation into the shooting must produce clear answers.
Police say Cole had been involved in a confrontation and was carrying a handgun when he was shot.
