Police chase juveniles through Verona and Fitchburg, recover two stolen vehicles

VERONA, Wis. (WTMV) -- Verona and Fitchburg Police recovered two stolen vehicles after chasing juveniles who stole the car through the two cities.

According to the Verona Police Department, police were notified of a car which was stolen from a driveway on Edward Street, of which the owner of the car witnessed.

While officers were responding to the area, they received another report of a vehicle disabled on Breckenridge Road with flat tires after striking a curb. Juveniles were observed fleeing from the disabled vehicle, getting into what was believed to be a new stolen vehicle.

Officers discovered the abandoned Breckenridge Road vehicle was a car previously reported as stolen from the City of Verona on Nov. 1 from a garage on the 1000 block of Tamarack Way.

Officers located the new stolen vehicle heading out of the City on East Verona Ave at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday. A traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle fled eastbound on US Highway 18-151. The City of Fitchburg Police Department was notified of the stolen vehicle entering the city and were able to deploy stop sticks on McKee Road, disabling the vehicle.

Several juveniles fled from the stolen auto through the yards on Woods Edge Way.

Officers apprehended a 13-year-old runaway from Middleton. The teen was transported to the Juvenile Reception Center and charges will be referred to the Dane County District Attorney's Office.
