JUNEAU, Wis. (AP) -- Two off-duty police officers from Columbus are under investigation for allegedly leaving the scene after crashing one of their cars into a rock outside a home in the Dodge County town of Westford.
Sheriff Todd Nehls says the officers could face several charges in the incident reported at 1:23 a.m. Friday, and they're also the subject of an internal investigation by the Columbus Police Department to determine if they were intoxicated at the time.
According to the sheriff, one officer crashed into the rock, and the other, who was following in his truck, pulled the car back to the road and followed the car until it quit, then gave the other officer a ride.
The officer whose car crashed eventually called the sheriff's department to report it at about 5 a.m.
