5-year-old takes high school senior to prom

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (AP) -- A 5-year-old Wisconsin boy is beaming after he took the high school senior he's been crushing on for most of his short life to prom. Sort of.

The Racine Journal Times reports 5-year-old Max Conner walked Shaelyn Ramirez to Case High School's festivities Saturday. The boy's mother, Carrie Connor, said he's had a crush on Ramirez for four years since his older sister became friends with Ramirez through cheerleading.

Ramirez's mother, Tracy Lakosh, said the boy was jealous when Ramirez went with someone else to homecoming. On Saturday he walked through the prom entrance holding Ramirez's hand while her actual date, Sam White, held her other hand. The boy's mother said he was disappointed when she told him they had to go home after walking the couple inside.
