Information from the Monona Police Department:

At approximately 6:35 p.m. Monona officers responded to Wal-Mart for a report of a suspicious package. Wal-Mart personnel had discovered a cooler with wires visible on the outside of the cooler. Monona Police and Fire personnel sealed off the garage area. Dane County EOD was contacted and responded. The store was evacuated prior to EOD personnel inspecting the cooler.

The cooler had been modified to hold fish bait. The wiring was attached to a pump aerator located inside the cooler. Water bottles and empty plastic containers were also inside the cooler.

We very much appreciate the assistance of the Dane County EOD team and the Monona Fire Department for their assistance with this incident.

The Wal-Mart store has resumed regular business. Anyone who left their vehicle in the underground garage is encouraged to recover their vehicle as soon as possible.
